These stories contain erotic and sensual elements but they are definitely NOT romance nor do they fit in the erotica category. I enjoy this type of detective work, but, again, there is a disadvantage: And I clearly misunderstood the term "alien". As this one began on Usenet, it continues to live freely online. As is to be expected with any collection some stories are much better than others. I definitely recommend picking up a copy. Fierce Family certainly spoke more to how I see the world.

I always think it's the sign of a good book that however many times I read it I always find something new to think about and to laugh at. I was twelve when I read Ringworld, my first adult Science Fiction novel. Strikingly new in its intimacy and in its despair. Gully Foyle is a refreshing bastard of a hero. Mary Gentle's book is in itself a voyage of discovery in which the reader starts as a comfortable alien observer and ends as a very uncomfortable but involved critic of a world that wobbles between utopia and dystopia. I am disturbingly fascinated. Well written interesting stories that really make the reader ponder the future of robots. Men like visual things with flashy, pretty scenery and technical stuff. For a while, she measures time by bruises she gives herself.
